Puppy Pre-School

Being a puppy is one of the most important stages in a dog's life. Is is in this period (4 - 18 weeks of age) that your puppy will learn and grow. This is the Critical age to start training and socialising your puppy. Everything your puppy sees and experiences will have a great effect on how it behaves as an adult.

The aims of Puppy Preschool classes are:

• To teach you about normal canine behaviour

• To teach the best training methods to enable you to train your puppy at home

• To allow puppies to socialise in a safe and controlled manner

To get your puppy to accept gentle handling from other humans

To learn some basic obedience

• To help solve problem issues such as house training, biting, jumping up, chewing etc.

• To teach your dog that coming to a Vet Clinic can be fun and not stressful for both them and you

Puppy Pre-School is essential for every new puppy and owner. A new puppy will quickly become a member of the family. A puppy learns right from wrong at a very early age along with the social skills that will affect the dog’s behavior throughout its life. Puppy Pre-School gives your new puppy the best possible start to become an obedient, well-adjusted dog. At Puppy Pre-School, puppies are allowed to socialize in a controlled environment. Owners learn the background to dog behavior and the essential dos and don’ts. Only positive training techniques are utilized. Ron Williams, our instructor, is a Delta qualified Canine Good Citizen Instructor, and is a professional dog trainer with over 25 years of experience. He is assisted by one of our  team of friendly qualified vet nurses.

Classes are small, with 4 to 6 puppies, so each puppy and owner receives plenty of individual attention and help. Puppy Pre-School is a 5-week course for one hour a week. Monday and Tuesday Puppy Pre-School classes start at 6:30 pm.  Bookings are essential. To book a place call 9874 6151. A puppy must be between the ages of 8 and 16 weeks at the start of classes and have had at least its first vaccination.

Attendees of Puppy Pre-School receive an information booklet that outlines the course and a puppy show-bag with information and samples.  Once completed, the owner receives a graduation certificate with a photo of their pup.  The puppy school instructor makes himself available for questions at any time outside of school times for attendees.

The first few months of a puppy’s life are critical to properly socialise and train a dog.  Training a puppy correctly from the start helps to ensure that you have a loving, well-behaved companion for life.  The major reason for euthanasia of dogs is for behavioural problems.  Puppy Pre-School will help to keep your puppy from becoming one of these statistics.
